Swierbenski , Josephine R. . Obituary

Josephine R. Swierbenski, 95, of Dickson City passed away on December 19, 2014 at the Green Ridge Health Care Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. Swierbenski, who died on March 31, 1996.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Nellie Humentoski Bednarz. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. She was educated in Dickson City schools and she was a homemaker.

Her family would like to offer a special thank you to the Green Ridge Health Care Center. Her care was excellent, very kind and compassionate. Her nurses were the best anyone could ask for. Also thank you to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart who cared for her in the last days of her life. They did a wonderful job caring for her as well as comforting her family.

Thank you also to Dr. Tracy Gilardi who was her physician for many years, for her kindness and understanding.

Mom enjoyed her trips to Mohegan Sun with her friend Leona Matylewicz, who was a special person. Thank you for making her happy, Leona. She thought the world of you and treasured your friendship.

Surviving is a daughter, Betty Pisarski and husband, Michael, Jefferson Twp.; a son, Robert Swierbenski and wife, Pam, Dunmore; four grandsons, Joseph and James Buchinski, who lived next door to their “Little Babci” and helped her out tremendously, cooking meals and shopping for her, among many other things, Mark Buchinski and wife, Lisa, Piscataway, NJ and Christopher Buchinski, Dickson City; four great grandchildren, Alexandra, Christine, Nicholas and Erin; sisters in law, Pearl Grzenda, Dunmore, Fran Swierbenski, Throop; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sister M. Emerentian and a brother, Stanley Bednarz and his wife, Blanche.

Per her request there will be no calling hours. The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family.
