Zelno , Elizabeth . Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Zelno, a former Eynon Resident, died Monday morning at Linwood Nursing Center, where she had been a guest. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Zelno, who died September 16, 2014. They had been married 66 years, July 3.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Nellie Sczesni Skierski and she was a member of St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Church at Christ the King Parish, Eynon. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Parochial School and Dickson City High School. She was a homemaker.

She was of member of St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary society and a active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary both of Eynon. She was also a past president of the PTA and secretary of the Mid-Valley Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are sons, Thomas Zelno and wife Diane, Archbald, David Zelno, Freeport, Maine, Mark Zelno, New York, City, Matthew Zelno and wife Judy, Peckville and Stephen Zelno, Carbondale, daughters, Elaine Fiels, Jessup, Marie Zelno Wiernusz, Archbald, grandchildren, Melissa Zelno, Christine Cottone, Thomas Zelno III, Christopher Zelno, Matthew Zelno, Allen Zelno, Jon Zelno, Thomas Fiels, Nicholas Fiels and Brandon Zelno, great-grandchildren Carmelo, Allie, Niko, and Allen Jr.,nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was a daughter, Linda Vezendi on November 21, 2000, and several brothers and sisters.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's of Czestochowa Church, Eynon.

Arrangements are by the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City.
